Quattrocentenary Exhibitions in Cotesbach
Flower Festival: St.Mary’s Church with a theme of village life at the time of the Enclosure of Land. The subjects of the displays were: The Plague (just after the revolt), Farrier, Baker, Shoemaker, Sheep & Shepherds, Farms, Thatcher, Blacksmith. Many of these trades were part of village life until the families of tradesmen were evicted in 1607. Most of the flowers were local garden and hedgerow ones to reflect the countryside.
The Flower Festival culminated in a Festival of Music, Song and Praise in church on the Sunday evening at 6.30pm
History Exhibition: St. Mary’s Church, with parish records available via microfiche and computer as well as some originals, including documents written around the time of the Enclosures Riot.
The Cotesbach Art Group will have an exhibition of works on display in the Village Hall on historical and local themes, some of which will be for sale.
