Food & Drink
We wanted to show how supporting local food producers and growers is a positive move towards sustainability and our best option for the future: fresh foods, organic where possible, homegrown if practical, less packaging, fewer food miles, breaking down preconceptions about standardisation, valuing home cooking, return to the hearth, and health.
The Slow Food Movement www.slowfood.com ,Common Ground www.commonground.org.uk and others have made huge strides in moving away from more and global to less and local - be inspired by them and take heed of their advice. It's just that we're still all in the stranglehold of the multinational supermarket chains and need kick-starting into effecting change at grass roots level. If public opinion can be swayed, we did just that at this event.
